About KC Community Choir

KC Community Choir

KC Community Choir is the newest exciting venture from musician, teacher and choir master, Kate Cameron. Started in September 2019 in Newton Mearns, just southwest of Glasgow city centre on Tuesday evenings the plan is to prepare and nurture the choir for regular performances in future and to open a new branches throughout the city and beyond in 2021. KC Community Choir is open to everyone (16 and over) who wants to sing great music as part of a group, without the pressure of an audition and without reading sheet music. It is a welcoming and relaxed environment to really enjoy the community singing experience.

COVID-19 Update

The pandemic has made singing together as a physical choir impossible. We moved online in March 2020 and are still going strong! Classes are also now available for children as well as adults. Please contact us on Facebook to enroll. We hope to start physical rehearsals again as soon as government safety guidelines allow.

Kate Cameron

Kate has been teaching music to all ages in the Glasgow area since 2011 and has been working with children’s choirs since 2014. She is very excited to work with adults for KC Community Choir and continue creating more of the same beautiful sounds she has nurtured so far. Music is Kate’s passion and she firmly believes it can and should be enjoyed by all.

  • BA Commercial Music with Distinction (UWS, 2014)
  • HND Music Business (Stow College, 2013)
  • HNC Music Performance (Riverside Music College, 2010)
  • HNC Musical Theatre (GAMTA, 2009)
  • Grade 8 piano.

Kate has performed on the Glasgow gig scene and worked as a cocktail pianist in the city’s West End. She began to teach both piano and singing to clients on a one-to-one basis in 2011 and grew to tutor full-time, including on the HNC Music Performance course she herself had previously studied before she graduated from UWS. Upon graduating, Kate began to work as a freelancer for BBC Scotland.

Contracts with BBC Scotland led her to experience a huge variety of projects and programming in entertainment and music including T in the Park, Hogmanay at the Fruitmarket, Edinburgh Festival, The One Show and Children in Need. For the latter, Kate was part of a small team traveling the country, working with in excess of 300 children to create the Children in Need Choir for live television performance. Her love for the project over two years led her back into the teaching world and in January 2016 she began working for Stagecoach Theatre Arts Glasgow, where she taught until March 2020. In March of 2018 she began to also teach a Musical Theatre in East Kilbride.
